Overview of Training
We run a number of 1 and 2 day training courses that are aligned with the new National Standards for Disability Services.
All training reflects the updated standards that reflect contemporary practices that place people with disability at the centre of decision making and choice about their supports and services.
The new Standards have been streamlined from ten to six in line with the revised National Standards. These streamlined standards are:
2. Participation and inclusion
3. Individual outcomes
4. Feedback and complaints
5. Service access
6. Service management
National Standards for Disability Services Awareness 2013 – 1 DayThis course provides participants with the in depth understanding and knowledge on new National Standards for Disability Services 2013. It also provides information on how to transition from 12 Disability Services Standards to new 6 National Standards for Disability Services.
These new standards are seen as a transitional reform enabling nationally consistent quality standards to apply for the disability services sector. They have a greater focus on person centred approaches and promote choice and control by people with disability. These are considered critical under the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Awareness on NSW Disability Services Standards – 1 Day
This course provides participants with the in depth understanding and knowledge on NSW Disability Services Standards. It also provides the information on how to implement the 6 NSW Disability Service Standards in the organisation to meet Third Party Verification compliance requirements.
The standards have now been updated to reflect contemporary practices that place people with disability at the centre of decision making and choice about their supports and services. The Living Life My Way consultations informed the update of the standards and ensured that person centred approaches are emphasised in the Practice Requirements and elements.
Internal Auditing on Disability Management Systems – 2 Days
This 2 day course provides participants the understanding and knowledge on National Disability Services Standards from the auditing perspective. It forms the basis for a systematic approach to conduct internal audits against NSDS. It enables participants to gain an understanding of the requirements of all the 6 standards of the NSDS.
The new standards have been through exhaustive stages of consultation, validation and user testing, culminating in a set of six standards that are able to be applied across a broad range of circumstances.
